Brief

As of August 2024, I worked as a Product Designer Apprentice on a B2B healthcare management website. Collaborating with 4 product managers, I contributed to small and medium-sized projects across over 50 business units. I independently designed and presented 2 medium-sized projects to stakeholders, prioritising user needs and functionality. Projects below are in the design phase as of this update, with all data fictional.

1. Information & referral to care services (Active Ageing Centres)

This feature offers a seamless platform for eldercare centers to serve as the main point of contact for social and health-related matters involving clients and their caregivers. It also tracks the progress of referrals and ensures individuals receive the appropriate support until their needs are fully met.
Currently, each center has its own method for manually tracking care information and referrals, which can lead to inconsistencies and make it difficult to share or coordinate data between them.

Solution:

1. Record and manage seniors' requests for I&R services
2. Refer clients to other health services when needed
Metrics:
Full transition from current spreadsheet to new I&R module in the website. 100% adoption of solution, enhancing operational efficiency and reporting capabilities.

2. Circuit training sessions - enrolment process

Circuit training sessions are provided for elderly clients, focusing on building strength and improving endurance through a series of targeted exercises. From recent feedback, sessions with increased capacity could hinder session coordination and raise safety concerns for clients with mobility issues. This creates inefficiencies and compromises clients satisfaction.

Solution:

1. Ensure staff to view only suitable clients in circuit training sessions with an 8-person capacity.
2. Maintain session safety and operational efficiency.

Metrics:

Achieve incremental revenue growth of up to $200k annually through an estimated 300 additional slots every month.

3. Recurrent options to schedule volunteering events

The Volunteer Management System enables staff to create volunteer or organisation profiles and set up events across the centres. As an activity organiser, I face difficulties to schedule volunteer activities with the current options (One time, every weekday). These limited options failed to accommodate events that require more nuanced schedules, challenges in managing long-term volunteer engagements.

Solution:

1. Flexible scheduling options for recurring volunteer activities
2. Date conflicts handling automatically
3. Ensuring the design solution remain consistent to different uses across the platform
Metrics:
Reducing scheduling constraints, increases operational efficiency with configurable recurrence frequencies and handling date conflicts automatically

Learning process

Finding the best solution required learning technical jargon, adapting to different communication styles, seeking guidance when needed and tackling tasks beyond my comfort zone. My apprenticeship involved understanding product requirements and pain points, iterating on designs, interviewing users and conducting design reviews with stakeholders.
